Julian Lobo, M.OMSc

Osteopathic Manual Practitioner

I have a deep passion for understanding the human body and working with it. I view the body as a dynamic system of interrelated functions whose aim is optimal health and wellness.

I was born and raised in Toronto, went to McGill University where I studied business and philosophy, and after living in China teaching English for a couple years, I got a teaching degree at Niagara University. Then I taught primary/junior grades in Toronto public school from 2009-2020.

I played a lot of sports in my youth and experienced different manual therapies and rehab therapies. It wasn’t until 2013 when I was introduced to Osteopathy. Immediately I could sense it was special. It was distinct from any other manual therapy I had ever received, yet it felt familiar as though it just made sense. About 10 years earlier I had read about the concept of tendon-changing in Taoism, which sparked my interest in the possibilities of wise manual therapy. So when I first experienced Osteopathy it immediately reminded me and brought me back to that. I have since dedicated my life to studying the science of manual therapy and its connection to natural law.

In 2017 I began studying at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy (CAO). It was a 4-year program that prepared me well for clinical practice. Now I’m a certified professional member of Osteopathy Canada (OSTCAN).

Because it’s a philosophy, Osteopathy draws me right in. And having been a teacher I enjoy working with patients of all ages, including infants and children. I’m working with their nervous system, so establishing good rapport and comfort is valuable for an effective assessment and treatment.

My work is based on the principles of physics and human functional anatomy. I use various techniques to assess and treat the layers of soft and hard tissues at different scales. But what matters more than techniques or manipulations, is accuracy, so that’s what I strive for above all else. This means with my eyes and my palpation skills I picture what your body is doing altogether, how it’s taking shape, and where it needs to be addressed. Through the course of treatment over time I help patients achieve lasting results by addressing the root causes of their issues. I continue to be awestruck by the human body’s ability to self-heal and self-regulate with the help of Osteopathy.

Whether you’re dealing with chronic pain, illness, recovering from an injury, or simply looking to optimize your overall health and well-being, I’m here to help. Together we’ll make deposits into your health bank account as we make meaningful change in your body, so you can achieve a greater sense of balance, harmony, and vitality in your body and in your life.
